2.7.8 The atmosphereVariation of pressure, density and temperature with altitude Values given in the table are based on the standard atmosphere of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). They are representative of average atmospheric conditions in temperate latitudes.

The above values are a mean over all conditions. Considerable variation occurs with latitude, season and (above 100 km) with solar activity. Above 100 km the composition of the atmosphere changes due to dissociation and diffusive separation, the main constituents in addition to N2 and O2 being atomic oxygen and helium.
